About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Health Care Social Worker to join our team at Nova Scotia Health, providing collaborative, holistic care on the primary to quaternary care continuum.

As a Health Care Social Worker, you will be a member of the interdisciplinary health care team, focusing on the relationships between people and their environments to promote psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build upon the strengths of patients/clients by focusing on existing coping strategies and problem-solving skills, past successes, and personal resources.
  • Collaborate with community partners to provide comprehensive care.
  • Develop and implement effective intervention plans.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Social Work from a recognized university.
  • Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers.
  • Two (2) years post BSW related clinical experience required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
  • Previous experience working in adult community mental health preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to use a client-/family-centered approach.
  • Familiarity with various evidence-based treatment approaches for use with people with severe and persistent mental illness.
