Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Primary Maternity Care Specialist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive primary obstetrical and postpartum health care services to patients of all ages and stages of health or illness.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Care: Ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care, including comprehensive primary obstetrical and postpartum health care services.
  • Workload Management: Be accountable for appropriate workload and practice, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Continuum of Care: Continuously work towards same day or next day access for the practice population, while maintaining effective communication with healthcare providers within your practice and/or community.
  • Care Coordination: Provide care and coordination of community-based care, as well as secondary and tertiary level healthcare services.
  • Operational Excellence: Operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority, upholding the highest standards of professionalism and ethics.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Licensure and Certification: All applicants must be eligible for licensure with the CPSNS, and family physicians must be eligible for certification with the CFPC.
  • Membership: Membership with the CMPA is mandatory.
  • Life Support Training: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Certification (NRC) are essential qualifications.
  • Primary Care Obstetrics Experience: Primary care obstetrics experience or training is required, with newborn care experience considered an asset.
About the Opportunity

This part-time position offers the flexibility to participate in the OB Clinic and flexible call group, with approximately 3-8 shifts per month.

Estimated Salary Range:

$70,000 - $100,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
