Senior Mental Health Unit Manager

About the Role
">We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mental Health Unit Manager to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. In this key leadership role, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Inpatient Psychiatry Unit at South Shore Regional Hospital.
Job Summary
">The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in a recognized mental health discipline or a related field with five years' experience in a mental health system, or a Bachelor's degree with seven years' experience in mental health practice or leadership.
As a senior leader, you will provide strategic and operational guidance that supports excellence in service delivery, integration of MHA service provision, and collaboration with other program areas.
Key Responsibilities
">- Provide leadership and oversight for the Inpatient Psychiatry Unit
- Monitor service delivery to ensure compliance with evidence-based practice, provincial standards, and accreditation requirements
- Collaborate with Zone Director, Chief of Psychiatry, MHA Managers, and other stakeholders to advance MHA service provision and integration
- Develop and implement strategies to improve patient outcomes, staff engagement, and operational efficiency
Requirements
">- Masters or Bachelors degree in mental health discipline or related field
- 5-7 years of experience in mental health practice or leadership
- Registration/eligibility with relevant regulatory body
- Strong leadership, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, conflict resolution, negotiation, and decision-making skills
- Demonstrated commitment to employee and self-development, continuous quality improvement, and knowledge exchange
- Ability to manage human resources, financial resources, capital/material assets, and information
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
Compensation
">The estimated salary range for this position is $54,344 - $73,124 per year, based on a 75-hour bi-weekly schedule.
