Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular safety inspections at construction sites and work areas to identify potential hazards, non-compliance with safety regulations, and unsafe practices.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of safety inspections, training sessions, and safety-related documentation.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and workers to establish and enforce safety protocols and procedures in alignment with industry standards and applicable regulations.
  • Review and assess construction plans, permits, and blueprints to ensure that safety measures and protocols are integrated into project designs and execution plans.
  • Facilitate safety and training sessions for employees, emphasizing safe work practices, equipment operation, and emergency response procedures.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and safety meetings to communicate important safety information, address concerns, and promote a strong safety culture among all team members.
  • Stay updated on advancements in safety regulations, best practices, and industry standards to continuously improve safety initiatives and processes.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in safety or environmental studies, or similar is preferred, but professional equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 1+ years' experience as a Safety Inspector in a similar environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian construction safety regulations, codes, and practices, staying current with updates and amendments in the Canadian safety landscape.
  • Proficiency in utilizing safety software and tools commonly used for inspections, reporting, and administrative tasks, ensuring compliance with Canadian safety requirements and efficient data management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey safety-related information to diverse audiences.
