Job Description:

The Calgary Airport Authority is seeking a highly skilled Safety Programs Development Specialist to join their team. As a key member of the safety team, you will be responsible for supporting the development and maintenance of the airport's safety programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance and maintain safety programs that align with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Identify potential hazards and develop procedures to mitigate risks.
  • Establish policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Review and enhance safety program documentation for Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S), Contractor Safety, and Aviation Safety.
  • Develop training materials, deliver training sessions, and create educational materials to communicate safety policies.
  • Gather information and analyze processes and procedures to determine logical and sequential flow of documentation.
  • Document processes, policies, and procedures by writing, editing, and publishing comprehensive standard operating procedures.
  • Update documentation to keep information current and ensure quality and accuracy.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in safety, environmental, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years related industry experience (e.g., OSH, construction, aviation SMS).
  • CRSP Canadian Registered Safety Professional or working toward designation preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act and Canada Labour Code Part Two.
  • Subject matter expert on remediation and advisory role on hazardous materials.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Intermediate to advanced technical computer skills in Microsoft Office products.
