Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Care Worker to join our team at WJS Canada. As a key member of our care team, you will provide essential support to residents in a residential setting, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor residents through the night, attending to any medical and behavioral needs that arise.
  • Follow established procedures for responding to emergencies and reporting incidents.
  • Support residents with their morning and evening routines, ensuring a smooth transition between shifts.
  • Administer medications according to established policy and procedure.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties, including cleaning, laundry, and minor maintenance tasks.
  • Comply with agency policies, procedures, and values, promoting a safe and supportive environment for residents.
  • Prepare and assist residents with breakfast preparation.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 6 months of related experience in a residential care setting.
  • Previous experience in a community-based setting, or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Training in substance use and trauma-informed practice is an asset.
  • Familiarity with Housing First, Harm Reduction, and Employment First initiatives.
  • Valid CPR/First Aid, WHMIS, and Food Hygiene and Sanitation certificates.
  • Valid BC Driver's License and clean driver's abstract.
  • Non-Violent Physical Crisis Intervention Certificate and Conflict Resolution Certificate.
  • Positive behavior supports experience.
