Job Title: Residential Child Care Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Child Care Worker to join our team at WJS Canada.

About the Role

As a Residential Child Care Worker, you will play a vital role in providing support and care to children and youth in our residential program. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the physical, emotional, and psychological well-being of our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, set goals, and evaluate progress of individuals served
  • Teach social skills through daily routines and activities
  • Monitor safety and well-being, promoting health, welfare, and security
  • Provide behavior management counseling and emotional support
  • Communicate with program, school, family, and community
  • Meet physical needs, including personal hygiene and daily living activities
  • Administer medications according to guidelines and procedures
  • Maintain reports and statistics
  • Perform household duties and accompany clients to appointments
  • Participate in OHS Committee and advocate for clients
Requirements
  • Child and Youth Care Degree or Diploma, or equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum two years recent experience in child and youth care or related field
  • Previous experience with trauma-informed practice
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and clean driver's abstract

Successful applicants will be required to participate in MCFD screening prior to confirmed employment with WJS Canada. Applicants will be required to provide three professional references that WJS Canada will be able to contact in a timely manner at time of interview.

WJS adheres to provincial/legislated communicable disease prevention protocols. Some of our community health care providers/stakeholders may require WJS employees to be vaccinated in order to enter establishments while supporting WJS individuals/clients in service.
