About Us

At OSCO Construction Group, we pride ourselves on being the largest precast, pre-stressed concrete manufacturer in Eastern Canada. With two facilities spanning 120,000 sq. ft., we serve the Atlantic Provinces, the New England region of the United States, and Bermuda. Our product range includes bridge girders, wall panels, complete parking garages, hollow-core planking, piling, and deck slabs.

We operate a state-of-the-art engineered precast facility for custom components and a separate facility for standard concrete products, including pipe, manholes, and catch basins.

Safety Leadership Role

This is an excellent opportunity to provide safety leadership to management and employees through effective communication and guidance. The successful candidate will educate the workforce to reduce workplace accidents by briefing employees on daily risks, conducting orientations, and discussing hazards with supervisors and management.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct new employee safety orientations and arrange additional training as necessary.
  • Assist supervision with Hazard Assessments and Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
  • Conduct Health & Safety audits to assess the effectiveness of our Company Safety Program while identifying areas for improvement.
  • Conduct daily workplace inspections to identify unsafe actions and/or conditions.
  • Recommend corrective actions and follow up to ensure resolution of identified areas of concern.
  • Investigate and report all incidents/accidents (personal injury, property damage, near misses, etc.) in a timely manner.
  • Organize and facilitate regular toolbox talks.
  • Participate in monthly Joint Health & Safety meetings and effectively communicate safety information to division managers.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A minimum of [salary] $83,439 annually, depending on experience.
  • Relevant safety experience in an industrial/unionized environment, ideally within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of legislated requirements in applicable jurisdictions.
  • Professional Safety designation (CSS, CSO, NCSO, CRSP) would be considered an asset.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs.
