About the Opportunity

The City of St. John's is seeking a skilled Line Dance instructor to lead adult programs in a group setting. As a key member of the Department of Community Services, you will be responsible for planning, developing, and delivering engaging Line Dance programs that cater to adults of various skill levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and introduce Line Dance programs at various levels to adults in a group setting
  • Consult with the Community Services-Adult & Seniors Coordinator to ensure program alignment and quality
  • Lead weekly programs in a direct leadership capacity, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Request and maintain necessary supplies for the program
  • Monitor and compile attendance records

Requirements

  • Recognized training or experience in Line Dance instruction
  • Experience in instructing Line Dance in a group setting
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience working with adult populations
  • Formal education with a diploma, certificate, or degree (an asset)

Additional Requirements

  • Successful applicant must obtain a current Criminal Record Screening Certificate and Vulnerable Sector Check (dated within the last six months of the start date)
  • Successful applicant is expected to develop specific lesson plan content prior to the start of employment

Working Conditions

Program Schedule: Tuesdays at 11:00am-12:00pm & 12:30-1:30pm weekly

Period of Employment: September 2023 – June 2024
