Research Scientist Position Overview

The HCI & Visualization Research Group at Autodesk Research is seeking an experienced research scientist to contribute to cutting-edge research topics at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction and Artificial Intelligence. This broad area of research could encompass topics such as: developing novel interaction techniques for generative AI systems; collecting and analyzing data to improve AI system performance in design software; and exploring the future of design with emerging technological breakthroughs.

Responsibilities
  • Conceive, plan, and implement scientific research projects to advance knowledge in business-relevant areas
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals and conferences
  • Supervise research interns and collaborate with external research institutes and universities
  • Communicate and promote research findings throughout Autodesk
  • Consult with product teams on the implementation of research findings into products
  • Generate intellectual property from research findings
  • Manage and coordinate projects from research prototype to shipping products or services
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • 3-15 years of experience in HCI research fundamentals, including experience designing and evaluating novel interfaces and technologies
  • Demonstrated experience working with AI technologies and developing novel solutions using them
  • History of publications in HCI or related fields
  • Ability to learn new technologies and adapt to new situations
  • Ability to conduct quantitative and qualitative studies to evaluate concepts, designs, and systems
  • Ability to work with people from diverse disciplines
