Job Title: Biological Research Scientist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Biological Research Scientist to join our team at The Hospital for Sick Children. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for conducting experiments in plant or animal growth, heredity and breeding, and supervising laboratory technical personnel, medical clinical personnel, graduate students, research scientists and other professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct experiments in plant or animal growth, heredity and breeding
  • Supervise laboratory technical personnel, medical clinical personnel, graduate students, research scientists and other professionals
  • Conduct molecular or biochemical studies and experiments in genetic expression, gene manipulation and recombinant DNA technology to develop new or alternative methods of producing products
  • Conduct research into the structure, function, ecology, biotechnology and genetics of micro-organisms, including bacteria, fungi, protozoans, and algae
  • Prepare research papers, educational texts or articles
  • Conduct literature reviews

Requirements:

  • Doctorate degree in a relevant field
  • 5 years or more of experience in a research setting
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Strong leadership and supervision skills
