Rehabilitation Support Specialist

About the Role
Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Rehabilitation Assistant to join our team at Sechelt Hospital. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will work closely with Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy Practice Coordinators and designated Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist to carry out established rehabilitative activities in both occupational therapy (OT) and physiotherapy (PT) scope of practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the team with duties such as receiving assignments and implementing lower risk interventions related to the clinical aspects of OT/PT care plans;
- Demonstrate and teach activities;
- Adapt devices to enable patients/clients/residents to maximize their potential for independence;
- Provide functional direction to patient/client/residents and family;
- Assist with practicing daily living skills;
- Report relevant observations of patient/client/resident progress and behaviours;
- Provide direction to volunteers, organize and clean equipment and supplies for activities, and maintain an established inventory of supplies.

Sechelt Hospital is an acute care, 46-bed facility located in Sechelt, British Columbia and serves over 30,000+ residents of the Lower Sunshine Coast. Sechelt Hospital provides a full range of services to the community, including Emergency care, Renal program – community dialysis units, Mental Health and Substance Use Services, surgical services, birthing for low-risk pregnancies and imaging services.
Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized Rehabilitation Assistant Program;
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing;
- Ability to deal with others effectively;
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position;
- Ability to organize work;
- Ability to operate related equipment.
