Overview

F Fraser Health Authority is seeking a skilled Cardiac Sonographer to join our team at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, BC. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.

About the Role

This is a Casual opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Cardiac Sonographer to work with our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing cardiac ultrasound procedures, including cardiac studies and measurements, and providing preliminary assessments for review and interpretation by the Radiologist/Cardiologist. You will also be required to maintain a comprehensive record of patients' cardiac Ultrasound logs as per established standards, enter data into the radiology and hospital information systems, and ensure proper maintenance of Ultrasound equipment.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will perform a variety of tasks, including:

• Receiving and preparing patients for testing by receiving requisitions, reviewing patients' case history, correlating clinical history with examination to be performed, positioning patient and explaining clinical procedures and assessing the nature of the issue to determine a process for testing

• Explaining procedures to patients and answering any questions that may arise

• Performing cardiac studies, such as 2D, M-mode and Doppler, by setting equipment to produce accurate images

• Obtaining and recording cardiac ultrasound views and measurements in accordance with department standards and procedures

• Monitoring patient during procedures by methods such as observing and responding to possible contrast media reactions or other emergency situations in accordance with facility policies and procedures

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

• Graduation from a recognized training program in Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography and certified with Sonography Canada or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS); or be certified with Sonography Canada and have passed the Sonography Canada Skills Assessment (CCSA)

• Completion of Intravenous Therapy training course or applicable experience working in IV Therapy; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience when required by site practice

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is approximately CAD $50.94 - $68.19 per hour.
