Regulatory Compliance Expert for Group Benefits

As Regulatory Compliance Expert for Group Benefits, you will play a key part in ensuring the effective implementation of regulatory requirements and promoting a culture of compliance within our organization.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced professional with a strong understanding of regulatory compliance, preferably as it impacts group insurance. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring and communicating regulatory developments, requirements, risks, and trends to internal stakeholders
- Providing clear, plain language interpretations of new and existing regulatory requirements
- Overseeing the identification and reporting of compliance risks within Group Benefits and monitoring remediation of risks using the Archer RCM program
- Supporting compliance testing and performing monitoring activities to ensure business controls are adequate and effective to comply with applicable regulations
- Assessing and challenging the effectiveness of 1LOD's controls and activities
- Maintaining and updating regulatory compliance databases, inventories, and policies
- Assisting in designing and making available compliance-related training for staff
- Participating in a variety of industry groups and interacting with regulators to stay informed about regulatory changes and compliance concerns
- Supporting projects and initiatives to improve compliance processes and practices
- Proactively problem-solving and identifying ways to improve your own work processes and practices, and those of others
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in a compliance, risk management, or related role, with a demonstrated understanding of regulatory compliance, preferably as it impacts group insurance
- A working knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations, such as provincial and federal Insurance and Privacy laws, and Anti-Money Laundering legislation
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify compliance risks and assess their impact and severity
- The ability to distill complex requirements without oversimplifying or missing critical components
- The ability to understand the overall theme of a regulatory requirement despite the abundance of detailed provisions
- Strong communication skills to clearly explain regulatory requirements and foster collaboration across teams
- High ethical standards, sound judgment, and the ability to prioritize and work effectively in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment
Benefits
As a valued member of our team, you can expect a competitive salary of approximately $90,000 - $110,000 per year, based on your qualifications and experience.
