Key Responsibilities
  • Credit Analysis: Effectively analyze credit submissions, financial disclosures, and pertinent documentation to ensure that our business customers receive the right credit solutions.
  • Credit Judgement: Apply advanced credit judgement, usage of the applicable five C's of credit, and ensure consistent application of policies and processes are analyzed and documented.
  • Adjudication: Adjudicate within established limits and exception authority and present quality recommendations on requests above established limits.
  • Financial Analysis: Analyze credit reviews and apply corrective action where appropriate.
  • Partner Interaction: Ensure all partner interactions are professional, respectful, and value-added.
  • Recommendations: Provide recommendations/alternative solutions, and restructuring credit requests, with coaching/direction to partners as required.
  • Urgency: Act with a sense of urgency in response to partner requests to meet customer expectations.
  • Service Level Agreement: Deliver against established ACE Service Level Agreement targets.
  • Portfolio Growth: Contribute to the growth and quality of the Small Business Credit portfolio.
  • Risk Identification: Clearly identify risks and exceptions using strong rationale and associated mitigants to support the decision.
  • Risk Appetite: Operate within the Bank's risk appetite and culture in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain acceptable application review ratings from internal quality assurance and audit.
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Business Credit Risk Manager to join our team. If you have a comprehensive knowledge of Scotiabank's Small Business products and services, and an expert understanding of the Bank's lending policies and procedures, financial analysis, risk assessment techniques, credit structuring, collateral and security documentation and registration, we want to hear from you.

  • Knowledge of Bank Products: A comprehensive knowledge of Scotiabank's Small Business products and services.
  • Expertise in Lending Policies: An expert understanding of the Bank's lending policies and procedures, financial analysis, risk assessment techniques, credit structuring, collateral and security documentation and registration.
  • Financial Analysis: Intermediate accounting and financial statement analysis.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem resolution skills.
  • Team Player: Strong team player and skillful in developing harmonious relationships with Unit team members and stakeholders.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills, written and verbal, in order to produce informative, concise and professional credit replies, presentations and correspondence.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work effectively and efficiently to meet the demands of a high-volume work environment.
