Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Credit Analyst Intern to join our Commercial Banking team. As a Credit Analyst Intern, you will have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of commercial lending through credit analysis and risk assessment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate decision-making and analysis of credit information to support lending decisions and processes.
  • Maintain and promote a client service environment to satisfy and exceed customer needs and expectations.
  • Analyze financial information, tax returns, credit bureau reports, and other related materials to provide accurate financial analysis and risk assessment of new and existing customers.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to gather accurate and detailed client information.
  • Develop credit information to make lending decisions on new, renewal, and extension loans.
  • Assist in negotiations of terms and conditions of lending decisions via phone and email interaction with clients.
  • Prepare summaries, present facts, and offer opinions concerning credit worthiness.
  • Minimize BMO's risk exposure by adhering to internal credit policies and procedures.
  • Provide input into the planning and implementation of operational programs.
  • Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Typically between 2-3 years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree in a related field of study, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Specialized knowledge and skills in credit analysis and risk assessment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization, collaboration, and analytical skills.
