About the Role

The District of Saanich Youth Services section operates three youth centres within recreation facilities. Our dedicated team provides a range of programs and services to young people in our community. As a Program Leader I, you'll play a vital role in planning and leading these engaging activities.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver both registered and drop-in programs for youth participants.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment where all young people feel welcome and supported.
  • Collaborate effectively with youth, families, colleagues, and supervisors.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants by maintaining program areas and implementing safe work practices.
  • Lead organized and enjoyable activities that cater to diverse interests.

Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent.
  • Three months of experience working with youth in a recreational or instructional setting.
  • Satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS) check no older than six months.
  • Emergency First-Aid and CPR-C certification.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Experience working with youth, demonstrating inclusivity and flexibility to create a positive environment for all.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • A high level of enthusiasm and personal motivation.
  • Experience working with individuals who have behavioural or cognitive difficulties is an asset.

Shift Information

The successful candidate will work varying shifts, including weekends, after school hours, and evenings. A minimum commitment of three hours per week is required. Shift hours and locations vary depending on program registration.
