Market Risk Oversight Expert

CWB Financial Group is currently seeking a seasoned Market Risk Oversight Expert to join our esteemed Risk Services team. As an expert in interest rate risk, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the AVP, Market Risk, by conducting second-line oversight of market risk in the banking book and maintaining CWB's interest rate risk models. This position focuses on interest rate risk management and reporting, ensuring robust risk assessment and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and enhance the in-house interest rate risk model to ensure accurate risk assessments and informed decision-making.
- Conduct internal reviews and monitoring processes to identify potential risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare independent reports on exposure against risk appetite for the Executive Risk Committee and the Board Risk Committee.
- Maintain and update earnings and equity sensitivity and simulation models to inform business decisions.
- Independently acquire and analyze balance sheet information to provide calculated exposure against risk appetite.
- Implement and coordinate emerging OSFI IRRBB guidance to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Review and challenge Treasury's key assumptions in interest rate risk management to ensure accuracy and effectiveness.
- Assist in preparing materials for executive committees to facilitate informed decision-making.
- Refine existing interest rate models for measuring Net Interest Income (NII) and Economic Value of Equity (EVE) to optimize business performance.
To excel in this role, you will need to possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business management, quantitative finance, financial engineering, data analytics, or a related field. A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and Financial Risk Management (FRM) certification would be considered assets. Additionally, you should have at least two years of experience in risk management within large financial institutions and familiarity with OSFI B12 reporting requirements. Proficiency in Python, SQL, and MS Office is also required, as is experience in preparing technical documentation for complex financial models and behavioral modeling for banking products and balance sheet forecasting. Experience with QRM, R, Matlab, and SAS is a plus.
