We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Social Worker to join our Operational Stress Injury Clinic team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide mental health treatment services to Veterans and their families, working closely with a psychiatrist, occupational therapist, psychologists, nurse clinicians, and other healthcare professionals.
The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in Social Work from a recognized university and be registered or eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers. They will possess a minimum of two years of related clinical experience, with training in evidence-based therapies for PTSD, depression, anxiety disorders, and knowledge of substance misuse. Experience working in an interdisciplinary service delivery model is mandatory, and experience providing evidence-based trauma-focused therapy is an asset.
The Social Worker will be responsible for:
- Maintaining OSI-specific workload measurement outcome monitoring and data collection
- Providing education to various OSI stakeholders
- Maintaining contact with referring VAC case managers, RCMP, and DND in the development of treatment plans and referrals
- Utilizing OSI-supported telehealth services and other distance technologies in the provision of services in outlying communities
- Working with the Canadian network of OSI clinics and following the leadership of the Operational Stress Injury National Network
- Designing and providing program evaluation and satisfaction surveys within OSI clinic guidelines
- Contributing to research as part of the national OSI clinic network
- Working in compliance with VAC standards for OSI clinics
The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships. They will be committed to Continuous Quality Improvement, Best Practices, and Team Work, with effective mentoring and clinical supervision skills to support both the academic role and the clinical practice of other team members.
About YouWe are looking for a candidate who:
- Has a Master's degree in Social Work from a recognized university
- Is registered or eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers
- Has a minimum of two years of related clinical experience
- Has training in evidence-based therapies for PTSD, depression, anxiety disorders, and knowledge of substance misuse
- Has experience working in an interdisciplinary service delivery model
- Has experience providing evidence-based trauma-focused therapy (an asset)
- Has experience working with families and couples
- Has experience providing mental health services on an ongoing outpatient basis (preferred)
- Has sensitivity to the unique needs of military/police services personnel who are experiencing service-related mental health problems
- Has knowledge of psychiatric rehabilitation principles and practices
- Has excellent leadership and communication skills
- Is committed to Continuous Quality Improvement, Best Practices, and Team Work
- Has effective mentoring and clinical supervision skills
This is a Permanent Part-Time position, with a 45-hour bi-weekly schedule. The successful candidate will be required to work variable hours and evenings, with a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
Compensation and BenefitsThe successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary, with a starting rate of $49.05 per hour. They may also be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
