Healthcare Social Worker

We are seeking a skilled Social Worker to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a Social Worker, you will work with children and adolescents up to the 19th birthday, providing assessment and treatment for mental health or concurrent disorders. You will be part of a multi-discipline service that includes psychology, social work, psychiatry, addiction clinical therapists, and behavioral interventionists. Your responsibilities may include supervising case managers and behavioral interventionists, creating and providing evidence-based educational presentations, and participating in grand rounds presentations.
About YouWe are looking for a candidate with a Master's degree in Social Work, with a specialization in a clinical or mental health stream. You should be registered with the Nova Scotia College of Social Work and have two years of clinical experience in an inpatient/outpatient mental health setting. You should also have competence in assessment, intervention, and research, as well as specialized knowledge of acute and persistent mental illness and concurrent disorders. Competence in evidenced-based interventions such as CBT and risk assessment is also required. You should have a working knowledge of psychotropic pharmacology and be able to complete mental health assessments, diagnoses, and evidence-based treatments using the DSM-5. Competence in other languages is an asset, with French being preferred.
Hours and CompensationThis is a long-assignment full-time position, with 75 hours biweekly. The hourly rate for a Social Worker is $37.31 - $49.04, and for a Social Worker (Developmental) is $33.27 - $42.01. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
