Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Unit Coordinator to join our team at PHSA. As a Medical Unit Coordinator, you will play a vital role in the operation of our Program Area or Unit, performing a variety of clerical duties to ensure the smooth delivery of patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transcribe and process clinician orders, preparing requisitions for tests or services and communicating with patients and staff as needed.
  • Organize diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients, coordinating appointments and preparing related instructions.
  • Gather patient information to facilitate efficient patient flow, requesting and receiving information as required.
  • Perform receptionist duties, greeting and registering patients, and supporting wayfinding and communication.
  • Participate in the onboarding and orientation of staff, demonstrating work procedures and answering related queries.

Requirements

  • Grade 12, medical terminology, and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk Program, plus one year's recent, related experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively, physically able to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work, operate related equipment, and utilize computer software applications.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada.
