We are seeking a skilled Unit Clerk to join our Oncology team at BC Cancer in Surrey, BC.
Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of clerical duties related to the operation of the Program Area or Unit, including booking and coordinating appointments, diagnostic tests, and procedures.
- Transcribe and process clinician orders by completing and forwarding requisitions for tests or services, using the electronic health record system to schedule appointments and communicate related information according to procedure.
- Organize diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients by coordinating numerous interrelated appointments and preparing and communicating related instructions to patients.
- Gather patient information for medical appointments to assist in facilitating an efficient patient flow and perform receptionist duties such as greeting and registering patients and supporting way finding.
- Participate in the onboarding and orientation of staff through methods such as demonstrating work procedures and answer related queries.
Requirements:
- Grade 12, medical terminology, and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk Program plus one year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, deal with others effectively, carry out the duties of the position, and organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment, utilize a variety of computer software applications, and commit to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada.
