Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at the University Health Network. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a critical role in providing respiratory therapy services to patients in our Intensive Care Units, Emergency Department, Operating Rooms, and other specialty areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide respiratory therapy services to patients in critical care settings, including airway management, cardiac and respiratory arrest response, and intra and inter-hospital transports.
  • Administer specialty aerosolized and MDI medications, and act as a resource for nurses, residents, and allied health personnel in respiratory/airway related care.
  • Participate in teaching patients the use of respiratory therapy equipment for both hospital and home care use, and perform diagnostic tests such as bedside spirometry, oxygen saturation, and blood gas analysis.
  • Assist with bronchoscopies and manage all ventilated patients according to departmental ventilation protocols.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
  • Previous experience as a Respiratory Therapist in Adult Critical Care is preferred.
  • Registration with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists and the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario.
  • Certified Hyperbaric Medical Technologist (CHT) is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a Hyperbaric environment is required, and Hyperbaric Medicine experience is preferred.
  • Ability to perform without direct supervision, effective communication skills, and a commitment to personal and professional development.
