Airport Security Training Specialist

A highly skilled Airport Security Training Specialist is sought to lead the training of Screening Officers in accordance with our comprehensive training program requirements and guidelines. This role involves delivering in-person on-the-job training, including requisite post-course practical training and refresher courses.
About the Role:
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Training and Development, with experience in adult learning and training delivery. They will be responsible for monitoring tests and assessments related to our training program, supervising screening personnel's participation in practical skill development sessions, and implementing training for new operating procedures and support new hire orientation training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate expertise in adult learning and training delivery to develop and implement comprehensive training programs.
- Lead the training of Screening Officers in accordance with our training program requirements and guidelines.
- Monitor tests and assessments related to our training program to ensure compliance and quality standards.
- Supervise screening personnel's participation in practical skill development sessions to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Implement training for new operating procedures and support new hire orientation training to ensure seamless onboarding.
- Provide recommendations on certification maintenance to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Develop rapport and credibility within the Screening Officer population to increase the effectiveness of training interactions.
- Facilitate refresher sessions to review SOP changes, new operational bulletins/advisories, or new screening initiatives.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will have a minimum of two (2) years of experience in Training and Development, with a post-secondary education in Adult Learning, Communications, Business Management, Human Resources, or a related field. They will also possess excellent written, verbal, and communication skills, as well as the ability to coach, correct, and mentor Screening Officers. Additionally, they will be able to pass the Screening Contractor Training Representative course and acquire Transportation Security Clearance (TSC). Fluency in French would be considered an asset.
Compensation:
The estimated salary for this role is between $70,000 - $75,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. The role is fully based at Vancouver International Airport (YVR), with some travel required to regional airports across BC and Yukon.
