Counsellor Hummingbird Program

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Counsellor to join our Hummingbird Program team. As a Counsellor, you will provide crisis counselling and support to callers on our various crisis lines services, including the sexual assault crisis line. You will also provide in-person support to individuals who have experienced sexual and intimate partner violence within an interdisciplinary model at Klinic Community Health.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide crisis counselling and support to callers on our crisis lines services
  • Provide in-person support to individuals who have experienced sexual and intimate partner violence
  • Mentor new volunteer advocates in the Hummingbird program
  • Assess caller needs and risk
  • Chart appropriately according to Klinic procedures and documentation guidelines
  • Participate in training courses and in-services offered elsewhere and by Klinic in order to maintain and improve quality of service
  • Attend staff meetings as required
  • Participate in program planning, evaluation, and quality monitoring including completing daily statistics
  • Participate in formal self-evaluations by identifying strengths and limitations
  • Seek appropriate supervision/consultation of own actions
  • Adhere to all agency policies, protocols and promote best practice

Requirements:

  • Satisfactory Criminal Record, Child Abuse and Adult Abuse Registry checks
  • Completion of ASIST training
  • Completion of Crisis Worker Certification Exam within one year of hire
  • Ability to work days, evenings, and weekends
