About the Opportunity

Aecon Utilities is committed to delivering projects that are Faster, Smarter, and Safer. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Finance Co-op Student to join our Utilities Finance team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the month-end close-off process, including preparation of journal entries, elimination entries, and accruals.
  • Prepare monthly management reports, including financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Perform monthly inter-company reconciliations and confirmations with other Aecon divisions.
  • Assist with JV billings and associated reconciliations.
  • Conduct account analysis and prepare working papers and schedules.
  • Prepare joint-venture financial statements for JV partners.
  • Perform reconciliations and variance analysis to ensure timeliness and accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain Excel reporting models for monthly and quarterly reporting.
  • Assist with the preparation of business plans and quarterly forecasts, including data entry and maintenance in the accounting system.
  • Support interim and year-end audit and reporting requirements.
  • Assist with year-end tax worksheets.
  • Support client reporting.
  • Document and implement process improvements within the area of responsibility.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives as required.
Requirements
  • Related post-secondary education, working towards an Accounting or Finance designation (CPA, CGA, CMA, CA).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills required.
  • Excellent organizational skills to meet multiple deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Effective time management to meet commitments to internal and external clients.
  • Excellent communication skills.
