About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Regional Manager to join our team at Northern Health Authority. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of workplace health and safety policy, programs, and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Align workplace health and safety services with Northern Health's strategic and operational plans
  • Collaborate with leadership groups to ensure customer-responsive service and business issues are understood, supported, and sustainable
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of workplace health and safety policy, programs, and services to minimize occupational illness and injury, increase employee wellness, and improve quality of life
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and contribute to the development of broader human resource policy and direction
  • Engage with external agencies, unions, and other stakeholders to lobby for funding, influence partnerships, and negotiate services
  • Develop relationships with colleagues in private and public sector organizations to monitor workplace health trends and developments and share best practices
  • Explore external business opportunities to enhance healthcare in BC and generate revenue
  • Provide leadership to a team of workplace health and safety professionals to motivate and develop team members
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a relevant discipline plus a minimum of seven (7) years' recent, related experience in progressively more complex management/leadership roles in a large multi-union environment
  • Ability to act with integrity and trust, build a team environment, communicate clearly, and foster potential
  • Ability to lead change, inspire, engage, and promote innovation
  • Ability to focus on customers and engage stakeholders
  • Ability to manage resources effectively
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Comprehensive knowledge of employee health and safety and HR theories/practices and an understanding of a complex multi-union healthcare environment
  • Ability to promote and develop opportunities for research and evaluation to ensure evidence-based best practices
  • Ability to apply superior conflict management skills and judgment to facilitate consensus, persuade/negotiate effectively, and implement service/organizational change and transition
  • Ability to identify emerging initiatives, trends, and industry best practices and ensure full consideration in the development and implementation of service delivery goals and objectives
  • Knowledge of contemporary and best practice approaches in injury prevention and occupational health and wellness
  • Above-average conceptual, analytical, and reasoning skills
