Lead Disability Management Specialist

Northern Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead, Disability Management to join our Workplace Health & Safety team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing specialized consultation and coordination on matters related to occupational and non-occupational illness or injury. Your expertise in disability management, creative problem-solving, and team leadership will be essential in managing the Duty to Accommodate (DTA) process and providing complex disability case management services to employees.
Reporting to the Regional Manager, Disability Management, you will be accountable for managing the DTA process, including negotiation, approval, and sign-off of DTA agreements on behalf of the Employer and the case management of complex occupational and non-occupational claims. You will also provide leadership to Management, Human Resources, Unions, and Employees regarding the need for health assessments in determining work suitability to mitigate Employer/Employee risk.
As a key representative of the Employer, you will provide consultation and expertise on policies relative to general and specific medical absences and rehabilitation issues. You will also represent the Employer in third-party proceedings and/or assist counsel/HR Advisors in case preparation.
Key qualifications for this role include a Bachelor's degree in a health-related discipline, five to seven years of recent related disability management experience, and current registration with the appropriate professional licensing body. You will also possess excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to type 60 wpm.
