Disability Management Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Disability Management Lead to join our Workplace Health and Safety team at Northern Health. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing specialized consultation and coordination on matters related to occupational and non-occupational illness or injury.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in disability management, creative problem-solving, and team leadership. You will be accountable for managing the Duty to Accommodate (DTA) process, including negotiation, approval, and sign-off of DTA agreements on behalf of the Employer and the case management of complex occupational and non-occupational claims.
You will provide complex disability case management services to employees, coordinating all aspects of managing their absence, including interpreting medical/clinical information, promoting return to work efforts, and developing modified and/or alternate work opportunities to mitigate absences due to occupational and non-occupational injury and/or illness.
As a Disability Management Lead, you will provide leadership to Management, Human Resources, Unions, and Employees regarding the need for health assessment in determining work suitability to mitigate Employer/Employee risk. You will also provide consultation and expertise on policies relative to general and specific medical absences and rehabilitation issues.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to type 60 wpm and utilize software programs required for professional-quality reporting, communication, webpage, and e-learning development.

- Bachelor's degree in a health-related discipline, such as Occupational Health Nursing, Kinesiology, Physiotherapy, or Occupational Therapy.
- Five (5) to seven (7) years' recent related disability management experience.
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Current registration with the appropriate professional licensing body.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to type 60 wpm.
- Ability to organize workload and set priorities, as well as demonstrate flexibility in meeting multiple demands and deadlines without supervision.
- Ability to effectively utilize software programs required for professional-quality reporting, communication, webpage, and e-learning development.
- Ability to efficiently gather research data as requested or required using a variety of methods.
- Basic knowledge of WSBC legislation is an asset.
