BA Blacktop's student co-op program is designed to provide students with hands-on experience in the field of civil engineering. The program is an integral part of our company's growth and future, and we are committed to helping develop high-potential Civil Engineer candidates to reach their goal of securing a full-time position after graduation.

As a Co-Op Student, you will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge to practical problem-solving situations and gain valuable work experience with an emphasis on fieldwork experience.

Responsibilities

* Assist Foreman with site safety orientations and actively work on-site with the crew
* Organize tasks, maintain daily records and journals, and test scheduling and recording
* Work with the Estimating Team on drawings take-offs, request for information redaction, quantity measuring and tracking, and progress estimate preparation
* Shadow the Superintendent and Project Manager on traffic management plans, non-conformance reports, schedule updates, cost and budget reviews, and site meetings

Skills and Abilities

* Strong organizational skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project)
* Proficiency in BlueBeam and AutoCAD as well as other related software
* QA, QC training and estimating experience
* Tracking of quantities and knowledge of specifications and requirements in roadway construction (MMCD, MoTi, and Supplementary Municipal Specifications)

Qualifications and Knowledge

* Enrolled in a Degree program in Civil Engineering or Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or Related Field
* Previous work experience in Civil Engineering is an asset
* Excellent attention to detail, good judgment, and clear communication skills
