About the Program

BA Blacktop's student co-op program is designed to provide students with hands-on experience in the field of civil engineering and construction management. As a co-op student, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects, including road construction and maintenance, and gain valuable experience in the industry.

What You'll Be Doing

As a co-op student, you will be responsible for assisting foremen with site safety orientations, actively working on-site with the crew, organizing tasks, and maintaining daily records and journals. You will also work with the estimating team to perform drawings take-offs, request for information redaction, quantity measuring and tracking, and progress estimate preparation.

Skills and Abilities that You'll Develop

As a co-op student, you will develop strong organizational skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office, BlueBeam, and AutoCAD. You will also gain experience in QA, QC training, estimating, and tracking of quantities.

Qualifications and Knowledge that You Should Aspire to

To be successful in this role, you should have a strong understanding of road construction and related activities, as well as knowledge of the QMP and testing requirements for roadway. You should also have a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field, and previous work experience in civil engineering is an asset.
