About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Workplace Investigations and Human Resources Consultant to join our team at the University of Toronto.

Job Description

This is a challenging opportunity for a professional with a strong background in human resources and investigations. The successful candidate will coordinate workplace investigations across the university, managing and responding to cases involving workplace complaints and/or incidents of bullying, harassment, discrimination, and sexual harassment. They will provide advice to the university's divisional human resources offices and senior leadership on these issues, operating under the university policy and Ontario legal frameworks.

The consultant will deliver a range of supports to stakeholders, from basic consultation on best practice through to case management of complex, multi-party complaints requiring a third party investigator. They must be familiar with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, the Ontario Human Rights Code, and all university of Toronto Workplace Policies.

In addition to their expertise in investigations, the successful candidate will also advise university client groups on employment-related laws and jurisprudence, including the Human Rights Code and the Employment Standards Act. They will participate in special projects and process re-engineering, working closely with a broad range of offices both internal and external to the university.

Requirements
  • An undergraduate degree in a related field (e.g., Law, Psychology, HR/Industrial Relations) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of five years' experience in human resources, with demonstrated experience with investigations and case management, preferably in a university environment.
  • Expert understanding of labour legislation and other employment law, including the Ontario Human Rights Code and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Salary Information

The estimated salary for this position is between $91,937 and $107,259 per year, based on the title, job description, and location.
