Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at BC Children's Hospital. As a key member of our Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Care team, you will provide high-quality nursing care to children and adolescents with complex mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care and support to children and adolescents with mental health needs, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans that address the unique needs of each patient.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and emotional needs, and develop and implement plans to address these needs.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families, including teaching about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN or RPN with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • One (1) year of recent related clinical experience working within a child and/or youth mental health setting relevant to the service area within the BC Children's Mental Health Program or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
  • Ability to diagnose and treat behavioral, social, emotional and mental health/psychiatric problems in children and youth.
  • Knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice, including collaborative problem solving, and knowledge of child and youth developmental theory.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
