Job Summary

This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, providing crisis care to pediatric patients. As a Pediatric Emergency Nurse, you will be responsible for assessing, treating, and stabilizing critically ill or injured children and youth.

About the Role

You will work collaboratively as part of an inter-professional team, utilizing your advanced assessment skills to prioritize patients and make clinical decisions. Your expertise in pediatric emergency care, trauma nursing, and crisis management will be invaluable in this role.

Responsibilities
  • Perform primary and secondary nursing assessments, diagnose health problems, and develop treatment plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments according to policy and procedure.
  • Prioritize patients using the Canadian Pediatric Triage Assessment Scale (PCTAS).
  • Provide nursing care to patients with physical and psychiatric problems, including abuse and neglect cases.
  • Observe, monitor, and document patient progress, symptoms, and behavioral changes.
Requirements
  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives.
  • Emergency Department RNs require 1+ year of recent, related clinical experience in pediatrics or an Emergency Department setting.
  • Mental Health – Emergency Department RN/RPNs require 3 years' recent related experience working with children, adolescents, and families on an inpatient child/adolescent mental health unit.
Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is $83,000 - $111,000 per annum, depending on experience. PHSA offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a municipal pension plan, psychological health & safety programs, and holistic wellness resources.
