About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Intensive Care Nurse to join our Post Anesthetic Care Unit (PACU) team at Mount Sinai Hospital. As a critical member of our surgical recovery team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective care of patients undergoing various surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure patients are optimized for surgery pre-operatively, including thorough assessments and planning to minimize complications
- Assist during special procedures such as ECTs, TEEs, and Cardioversions, requiring close collaboration with surgical and anesthesia teams
- Provide high-quality care and support to medical day care patients, addressing their unique needs and concerns
- Collaborate with interprofessional teams to optimize post-operative outcomes, address potential complications, and facilitate smooth transitions between care settings
- Develop and implement individualized patient education plans, promoting informed decision-making and empowering patients to manage their care effectively
- Work closely with surgery and anesthesia teams to ensure seamless communication and coordination, ultimately enhancing patient safety and satisfaction

Requirements
- Current certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Graduate of a CNO-approved bachelor's degree in nursing program or equivalent combined education and experience
- Critical Care Certification (candidates in the process of completing certification may be considered)
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification or a commitment to obtain within six months of hire
- 1-2 years recent experience in a PACU and/or Critical Care area, possessing expertise in airway management and hemodynamic monitoring
- Excellent critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, with a strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
