As a Claims Specialist, you will investigate, interpret coverage, reserve adequately, negotiate and settle automobile accident benefit claims. You will contribute to a client service culture by embedding client engagement philosophies into daily work and implementing innovative, client-centric decision making.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Investigating and interpreting coverage to ensure accurate reserves and settlements.
  • Negotiating and settling automobile accident benefit claims efficiently and effectively.
  • Contribute to a client service culture by embedding client engagement philosophies into daily work and implementing innovative, client-centric decision making.
  • Providing quality client service in accordance with claims service standards.
  • Actively participating with claimants, physicians, treatment providers, employers, rehabilitation workers and other service providers in the development, approval, implementation and monitoring of appropriate case management plans for clients.
  • Handling files in defense litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), using litigation management guidelines.
  • Setting up and maintaining files for assigned claims.
  • Authorizing payments and reserves up to $75,000 authority.
About You

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • A minimum of one year's experience in insurance or two years' experience in a related field.
  • Working towards Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) courses.
  • Well-developed computer skills in Microsoft Office software, internet, email systems.
  • Provincial adjuster license(s) may be required depending on the province of work.
  • A university/college degree.

Additional requirements include:

  • Direct contact with clients and/or service providers in their environment.
  • Regular travel.
  • Ownership of a vehicle, valid driver's license and insurance.
  • Extended work hours, including weekends, may be required.
  • Subject to a Background check as a condition of employment.
