Mental Health and Substance Use Nursing Position

This position requires a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) to work in the Psychiatry In Patient team at the HOpe Centre in North Vancouver, BC.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized direct nursing care to clients with severe and persistent mental illness, concurrent disorders, and/or dementia.
- Discharge planning and case coordination services to support clients' rehabilitation and recovery.
- Perform physical and psychosocial rehabilitation assessments and develop, implement, evaluate, and modify individualized treatment plans.
- Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with clients and their families.
- Administer prescribed medications and provide education on their use and potential side effects.
- Prepare and maintain accurate client records and participate in team meetings and quality improvement activities.
Requirements:
- Current practicing registration as a RN or RPN with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
- Completion of a minimum 6-week clinical practicum in a mental health setting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of concurrent disorders, substance use, and harm reduction strategies, as well as principles and practices of psychiatric care.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, and to communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
