About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Vancouver Coastal Health, specifically at the Access and Assessment Centre (AAC).

The AAC provides a single point of low-barrier access and assessment to Vancouver's Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) landscape. Our team works closely with community partners and other MHSU services to support residents in accessing appropriate mental health and substance use services.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Initiate treatment plans, including health care management, therapeutic interventions, and medication prescription in accordance with statutory and regulatory standards.
  • Provide professional guidance to other healthcare professionals and participate as a member of interdisciplinary health teams.
  • Collaborate with clients and other healthcare professionals to identify trends and patterns that impact clients, families, and communities.
  • Develop and implement population-based strategies to improve health outcomes and participate in policy-making and quality improvement activities.
  • Evaluate service outcomes at the client, community, and population levels.
  • Maintain competence in the position and maintain privileges as active medical staff.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A current registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) plus 4 years of recent, relevant clinical nursing experience.
  • The ability to apply knowledge of developmental stages, behavioral sciences, pathophysiology, psychopathology, epidemiology, and evidence-based practice to clinical diagnosis and patient management.
  • The ability to communicate and collaborate with patients and families about health findings, diagnosis, treatment, self-care, and prognosis.
  • The ability to assess and recognize population health trends and plan strategies for population-based prevention and health promotion.
