Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager to join our Recovery & Restructuring team. As a trusted advisor, you will work closely with clients to develop strategic solutions to address financial distress.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Engagement Management

Manage engagements related to restructuring and insolvency appointments, including bankruptcies, proposals, receiverships, CCAAs, liquidations, etc. Communicate with stakeholders, manage the team, and attend to file issues as needed.

Corporate Insolvency Services

Assist with the proposal, planning, and delivery of corporate insolvency services, including identifying strategic, operational, and financial challenges of a business. Recommend immediate stabilizing activities, provide operational and performance improvement advice, and address debt restructuring, refinancing, or recovery needs.

Reporting and Documentation

Prepare court reports and correspondence to clients and other stakeholders. Prepare and review all relevant statutory documentation associated with BIA, CCAA, Wind-Up Acts, Business Corporation Acts, etc., ensuring all deadlines are met.

Relationship Building

Develop relationships with special loan financiers, insolvency lawyers, business executives, etc. Network in the local business community, considering business development opportunities and assisting with the preparation and delivery of competitive proposals to meet stakeholders' needs.

Financial Analysis

Assist with data analysis, review of accounting records, and the development of financial models. Manage engagement planning and scheduling as well as engagement financials (budgets, WIP, timely billing, collection, variance recognition).

Quality Control

Maintain high-quality control and apply specialized knowledge to anticipate, identify, and address issues or key risks relevant to the business.

Requirements

  1. Education

Bachelor's degree in a related field.

Experience

4+ years of corporate insolvency experience.

Certifications

Completion of or pursuing a Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional (CIRP) certification and working to become a Licensed Insolvency Trustee (LIT).

Designations

Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is considered an asset.

Skills

Strong business acumen, practice development skills, commitment to excellence, and attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to work with and develop financial models. Proven people management, relationship building, and leadership skills. Strong strategic planning and conceptual thinking skills.
