Senior Claims Specialist, Liability

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Claims Specialist to join our team at Zurich Australian Insurance Ltd. in Montreal. As a Senior Claims Specialist, you will play a key role in delivering pragmatic and efficient claims management, seeking the best claims outcomes on moderate to complex liability claims for large corporations, multinationals, and international insureds.
Key Responsibilities- Claims Assessment and Investigation
- Review and assess liability and coverage applicable to each loss
- Investigate and litigate claims, including negotiation of settlement and management of litigation
- Claims Management
- Establish timely reserves and perform ongoing review throughout the claims cycle
- Assess damages and calculate applicable damages or range of damages allowed by law
- Customer Service and Communication
- Proactively communicate information and respond to inquiries from customers
- Follow customer protocols and participate in customer marketing efforts
- Expense Management
- Work within vendor-approved networks and manage scope of work assigned to outside contractors
- Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Claims or Insurance area
- OR
- College Degree and 5 or more years of experience in Commercial claims handling
- OR
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in Claims or Insurance area
- Completion of Zurich Claims Training Program and 3 or more years of experience in the Claims or Insurance area
- Language and Communication Skills
- Business writing and presentation skills in both French and English
- Proficiency with Office 365 productivity tools and apps
