Senior Claims Specialist, Liability

Zurich Canada is seeking a highly skilled Senior Claims Specialist to join our team in Montreal. As a key member of our claims management team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional service to our clients while ensuring timely and cost-effective resolution of complex liability claims.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough investigations and assessments of liability and coverage applicable to each loss
  • Negotiate settlements and manage litigation, providing directions to counsel and attending judicial settlement conferences
  • Establish and review reserves, controlling expenses and the claims life cycle
  • Document claims files, accurately capturing and updating claims developments and loss details
  • Determine liability by gathering and analyzing relevant facts, utilizing applicable law and principles of negligence
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Claims or Insurance area
  • OR College Degree and 5 or more years of experience in Commercial claims handling
  • OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in Claims or Insurance area
  • Completion of Zurich Claims Training Program and 3 or more years of experience in the Claims or Insurance area
  • Business writing and presentation skills in both French and English
  • Proficiency with Office 365 productivity tools and apps
