Job Summary:

As a key member of the Martinrea International team, the Welding Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and integrity of our products. This position requires a strong understanding of welding metallurgy, NDE techniques, and gas metal arc welding. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and resolving welding concerns, providing input to improve processes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve quality and productivity goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform welding inspections and analyze weld data to ensure compliance with quality standards
  • Develop and implement welding parameters to support production and quality assurance
  • Conduct training sessions for production personnel on quality requirements and welding best practices
  • Participate in problem-solving activities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with the quality team to identify and resolve welding-related issues
  • Develop and maintain welding setup instructions, inspection records, and weld length records

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in welding technology or a related field
  • Strong understanding of welding metallurgy, NDE techniques, and gas metal arc welding
  • Manual GMAW experience and working experience with industrial robots
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Basic knowledge of ISO/TS 16949:2002 and measuring equipment
  • Basic computer skills and understanding of core skills and GD&T

Working Conditions:

The Welding Specialist will work primarily on the plant floor, with occasional office work. The position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality and safety.
