The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of the value of sport and recreational programming in the development of children and youth. They will be responsible for building long-term, donor-centric relationships with sensitivity and professionalism.

This role focuses on identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual donors to make transformative donations through annual gifts, multi-year pledge commitments, estate planning, and other financial vehicles. The Strategic Philanthropy Manager will also support the strategy for annual, monthly, mid-level, and donor circle programs.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with excellent relationship-building skills, able to translate complex concepts into simple language. They will have a proven track record of closing gifts at the $100k+ level and experience in independently developing and managing a major gift prospect pipeline.

In this newly created role, the Strategic Philanthropy Manager will work collaboratively with the Philanthropy team to develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures and strategies. They will provide coaching and support to the Manager, Philanthropy, and mentor team members on planned giving tactics and strategies.

The Strategic Philanthropy Manager will also be responsible for maintaining Salesforce database management, preparing invoices, tracking payments, and payment follow-up. They will operate within the culture and core values of Rogers Communications and foster relationships with a diverse community of donors.

Key qualifications include 7+ years of relevant work experience in fundraising, experience in Major Gifts and Planned Giving fundraising, and a proven track record of closing gifts at the $100k+ level. The ideal candidate will have strong emotional intelligence, ability to read people and situations astutely, and high levels of self-awareness and compassion.

With a keen interest in staying current with gift vehicles and industry trends, the successful candidate will have a deep understanding of tax laws, regulations, and compliance issues that govern charitable giving in Canada and globally. They will also have exceptional verbal and written English communications skills, with strong presentation skills.

The successful candidate will have substantial experience with Salesforce, Raiser's Edge or similar database management systems, and proficiency in fundraising platforms such as Artez, Classy, and Microsoft Office.
