About Us

The Government of Nova Scotia's Department of Public Works is responsible for the operation and maintenance of 2,200 provincial buildings and structures across the province. Our team is dedicated to ensuring the safety and efficiency of our building infrastructure, and we are seeking a skilled Building Operator 4 to join our team.

About the Opportunity

As a Building Operator 4, you will play a critical role in supervising a team of Building Operators and ensuring the daily operation and maintenance of building infrastructure in various government buildings. You will be responsible for preparing work schedules, evaluating work performance, and providing technical guidance to your supervised staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise Building Operators in the performance of operation, repair, maintenance, and installation duties
  • Prepare work schedules and evaluate work performance
  • Provide technical guidance to supervised staff
  • Ensure the daily operation and maintenance of building infrastructure in various government buildings
Requirements
  • High school completion plus a Power Engineer 3rd Class certificate and five (5) years of related experience in the operation and maintenance of commercial or institutional buildings
  • Previous experience supervising a team, along with demonstrated leadership qualities
  • Sound knowledge of all aspects of building construction and operation, including architectural, plumbing, electrical, fire suppression, and HVAC systems
