About the Role

The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the position of Manager, Building Infrastructure. This role is responsible for the delivery of a portfolio of major construction and renovation projects for provincial buildings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with client department representatives to meet their short and long-term needs for building infrastructure project delivery.
  • Develop and maintain the vision and goals for projects, ensuring they align with the department's broader vision and goals.
  • Explore innovative solutions to resolve project challenges, integrating and analyzing complex and diverse information sources.
  • Deliver expert research, analysis, consultation, and advice on project design, construction, and delivery issues to drive continuous improvement in project management delivery.

Leadership and Collaboration

  • Lead a multi-discipline team of project managers, design leads, technical, and support staff within the department, as well as resource external consultants as required.
  • Collaborate regularly with external industry groups, such as the Nova Scotia Association of Architects, Engineers Nova Scotia, Consulting Engineers of Nova Scotia, and Construction Association of Nova Scotia.
  • Work closely with internal groups and client departments to address their design and construction needs, as well as Procurement Services on matters related to the procurement of design and construction services.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Must be a Licensed Architect (licensed or eligible to be licensed with Nova Scotia Association of Architects) or a Professional Engineer (registered or eligible to be registered with Engineers Nova Scotia).
  • Senior-level architect or engineer with many years of experience in the building design and construction industry, possessing strong technical experience, coupled with progressive experience managing and coaching staff.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to maintain good relationships with colleagues, clients, industry, senior management, and staff.

Working Conditions

  • Normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day.
  • May be required to work overtime on occasion.
  • Work is conducted in a comfortable office environment with moderate travel required within and outside of the Province.

Additional Information

  • Travel throughout the province is required; a valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the province are necessary.
