Job Summary

We are seeking a Quality and Safety Leader for our Neonatal Program to provide leadership and quality improvement expertise in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of initiatives designed to improve quality of care, safety, and risk reduction in Neonatal Intensive Care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and quality improvement expertise in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of initiatives designed to improve quality of care, safety, and risk reduction in Neonatal Intensive Care.
  • Monitor Neonatal Program staff and physician perceptions of safety and quality and identify learning opportunities related to the integration of quality improvement methodology and evidence-based systems and tools with everyday work processes.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate education plans to address identified learning needs.
  • Provide consultation, guidance, and support to the Neonatal Program and other staff, teams, and committees in the use of tools and mechanisms to measure, monitor, and evaluate initiatives designed to improve patient care outcomes.
  • Provide facilitation, coaching, and support to improvement teams in the development, monitoring, and analysis of key performance indicators, in alignment with other levels of reporting within C&W and the PHSA.
  • Provide expert support for analysis of multiple sources of data to promote a balanced approach to identifying and acting upon improvement opportunities.
  • Provide leadership in the development and implementation of patient safety and risk indicators, alert systems and other risk prevention strategies.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the application of C&W processes as they relate to patient safety, complaints management, and incident reporting. Make recommendations based on evaluation of the impact to patient outcomes and organizational risk.
  • Manage Neonatal Program incident reports using an intake and follow up system that ensures reports and follow up are completed in a timely manner, thoroughly reviewed, and processed in keeping with a non-punitive reporting culture, and that all resulting recommendations are implemented. Identify trends, make recommendations based on the trends, and formally report these trends to the program leaders, Quality of Care Committee (s) and others as appropriate. Report actual or potential risks to patient outcomes and/or to C&W to the Program Director , Neonatal Program Leaders, and C&W Director, QS&RM for follow up.

Requirements

  • A level of education, training and experience equivalent to an undergraduate degree in Nursing
  • Master's preparation in Nursing, Leadership, Health Administration, Business or a related health discipline preferred, plus a minimum of five (5) years of clinical practice and professional management/leadership experience.
  • Previous experience and education in quality, patient safety, risk management or accreditation is preferred. A clinical background in Neonatal Intensive Care is preferred.
