Job Summary
Dynacare is seeking a skilled and compassionate Health Services Laboratory Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory and health services team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support.
Key Responsibilities
- Procure blood samples and other laboratory specimens, ensuring accurate and timely processing for transportation.
- Provide outstanding customer service, creating a positive and reassuring experience for patients in stressful situations.
- Enter requisitions and process samples accurately, adhering to established protocols and quality indicators.
- Sort and steer specimens, perform ECGs, Holter Hookups, paternity, urine, drug, and breath alcohol collections.
- Ensure specimens and supporting documentation are completed as required, following established protocols for handling suitable and unsuitable samples.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Requirements
- Secondary School diploma and completion of a Laboratory Assistant training program or Medical Lab Assistance course with specialized training in phlebotomy.
- Excellent customer service skills, with a genuine care for patients' health and well-being.
- Proven phlebotomy skills, with the ability to manage anxious patients through the sample obtaining process in a calm and reassuring manner.
- Ability to prioritize and self-manage in a deadline-oriented environment.
- Extreme attention to detail and proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
- Reliable mode of transportation to travel between locations.
