About This Opportunity

Black & McDonald Limited is seeking a skilled Proposal Writer to join our Power Generation Region Proposals team. As a collaborative and innovative professional, you will contribute to the development of high-quality proposal responses to Requests for Quotations (RFQ) and Requests for Proposal (RFP) for large and complex project pursuits.


Key Responsibilities

  • Work with internal stakeholders and external client stakeholders to coordinate, prepare, review, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality proposal responses.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop cohesive and coherent narratives through the integration of technical solutions and relevant information.
  • Review detailed technical project specifications, basis of design reports, and drawings to effectively communicate relevant information for proposal response inclusions.
  • Setup, manage, or participate in project pursuit meetings with key internal and external client stakeholders.
  • Review RFQ and RFP requirements, summarize proposal response requirements, and identify actions.
  • Perform contract reviews, provide comments on commercial and operational terms, and participate in negotiations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Work Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree majoring in English, Communications, Business, or Construction Management.
  • 5+ years of working proposal experience in pursuing projects in the Engineering or Construction industry, preferably with nuclear experience.

  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work in small and large complex teams under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to read and understand technical details on design and construction drawings, including 2D and 3D, and technical concepts in technical project specifications and basis of design reports.
  • Ability to understand legalese in contract documentation and commercial and operational concepts, including risks and opportunities in a construction industry environment.
  • Advanced user of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams, Outlook).
  • Proficient user of PDF editing software (Adobe Acrobat, Foxit).
  • Proficient user of graphics software (Paint, Photoshop).
  • Proficient user of collaborative sharing platform software (Sharepoint, Procore, Google Drive, One Drive).
  • Basic user of 2D/3D modeling software (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, Bluebeam) to navigate and print drawings.
