Job Title: Senior Technical Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Engineer to join our team at Cpus Engineering Staffing Solutions Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical evaluations and advice, solving problems, and coordinating technical work as required, in support of the commissioning, operation, and maintenance of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical evaluations and advice to support the commissioning, operation, and maintenance of our facilities.
  • Solve problems and coordinate technical work as required.
  • Assess, evaluate, and recommend initial disposition of problems.
  • Prepare submissions, including cost justification or financial evaluation, as appropriate.
  • Recommend adoption of proposals and steps required to incorporate them.
  • Prepare detailed documentation of proposals, including equipment specifications, engineering calculations, installation, testing, operating, and maintenance procedures.
  • Submit necessary documentation for approval or forwarding, as required.
  • Discuss installation or implementation with persons concerned and ensure that the installation is as intended.
  • Instruct staff as necessary through lecture, field training, operating procedure, and the like.
  • Keep abreast of maintenance and operating problems and take action to implement change as appropriate.
  • Cooperate with other departments and organizations in arranging for tests and providing appropriate documentation, as required.
  • Keep abreast of new developments in the field for use in incorporating same in department equipment or operation.

Requirements:

  • Requires a knowledge of physics, chemistry, metallurgy, mathematics, electricity, engineering, and economics to technically understand the operation of the facility.
  • Requires advanced knowledge of one or more of these subjects to evaluate and propose improvements to processes, equipment, and systems or to unit safety, reliability, and performance.
  • Requires a knowledge of English in order to prepare clear and concise reports and recommendations both verbally and in writing.

Qualifications:

  • Requires a four-year university education in an appropriate engineering field or the equivalent level of education.
  • Requires training and experience in the design, development, or operation of a nuclear facility or in the development, manufacture, or production of nuclear materials or components or in an industrial environment associated with the design, development, operation, or maintenance of industrial systems and equipment.

Additional Information:

Knowledge of Fire Protection, engineering, and economics to technically understand the operation of the facility is considered an asset. Knowledge of Fire Hazard Assessment, Fire Safe Showdown Assessment, National Building Code of Canada, National Fire Code of Canada, and CSA N293/N393 is considered an asset to evaluate and propose improvements to Fire Protection processes, equipment, and systems in OPG Nuclear Stations and Facilities.
