Job Overview:

The City of Kingston is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the position of Intermediate Planner, Heritage Services. As a member of our Heritage Services team, you will be responsible for reviewing and processing applications under the Heritage Act, conducting technical reviews of submissions, and providing expert advice on cultural heritage matters.

Responsibilities:

* Review and process applications under the Heritage Act
* Conduct technical reviews of submissions, including architectural drawings and other documentation
* Provide expert advice on cultural heritage matters to staff, committees, and the public
* Assist in the administration of the City of Kingston Built Heritage grants program
* Represent the City at Ontario Land Tribunal hearings

Qualifications:

* 4-year undergraduate degree in Planning, Geography, Urban Studies, or similar field with a focus on cultural heritage
* Master's degree an asset
* 3 years of experience in planning in a heritage context
* Membership in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) or eligibility for full membership
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to interpret complex policies and regulations
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
